Occupying the 8th floor of a building just steps from Ueno Station, Nekomaru Cafe Ueno provides a comfortable home for a diverse group of cats, including rescued felines. Stepping inside, guests are greeted by a lively mix of personalities—some padding lightly across the floor, others curled up asleep in their favourite nooks.
Visitors switch into indoor slippers, wash their hands, and stow personal belongings in lockers before heading in to spend time with the cats. Alongside canned beverages kept in the refrigerator, the cafe offers a light Western-style dining and dessert menu, allowing guests to settle in at leisure with cat treats and toys in hand.
Payment is cash only. An elevator behind the glass doors on the 1st floor takes visitors up to the reception desk. Between sightseeing stops or shopping trips around Ueno, it serves as a welcome detour where you can slow down and relax at the cats' unhurried pace.
